About the role
The Wildlife department at Nemacolin is seeking an experienced Aquarist to maintain proper lighting in exhibits, diagnose animal health, manage water quality, and build exhibits. The ideal candidate should be comfortable using a variety of tools and possess a strong background in marine aquatic animal care.
Responsibilities
- Maintain exhibit aesthetics
- Maintain life support systems
- Maintain water quality
- Maintain support areas
- Aquarium specimen acquisition
- Feeding specimens
- Maintain animal health
- Propagate specimens (aquaculture)
- Design and install exhibits
- Self-motivated and versatile
- Possess a high work ethic
- Knowledge and skills in Zoological or Biological Sciences
- Specifically saltwater scuba certification is a plus
Requirements
- An AS or BS degree in Zoological or Biological Sciences is preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant hands-on experience may be considered
- 2+ years of professional experience in marine aquatic animal care at a zoological facility
- Specifically saltwater scuba certification is a plus
