Aquarist I

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced care for aquatic animals, including fish and invertebrates.
• Clean and maintain aquarium exhibits, work areas, and related equipment.
• Prepare animal diets and feed according to established procedures.
• Perform daily maintenance of assigned life support systems and monitor water quality parameters.
• Enter exhibits using SCUBA equipment to clean exhibits, provide animal care, and/or feed animals as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in marine biology or related field from four-year college or university; one year of experience working in a public aquarium/zoo; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Open Water SCUBA certification.
• Certifications in First aid, CPR, AED and Emergency Oxygen.
