Aqua Zumba Instructor (Part-time)

About the role

JCC Greater Boston is seeking an enthusiastic and creative teacher to lead Aqua Zumba classes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for exercising and a desire to help participants achieve their in-water goals.

Responsibilities

• Create and instruct Aqua Zumba classes
• Foster a safe and supportive environment for participants
• Maintain participant safety through preventative measures and minimizing hazardous situations
• Build trust and foster self-confidence among participants
• Prepare class materials, including music and daily preparations
• Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding class and programming
• Manage equipment used for sessions
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations
• Create a welcoming dynamic where each individual feels seen and welcomed
• Support JCC Greater Boston's mission, vision, and values

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent
• Age 21 or older
• Water aerobics instruction experience (JCC will train otherwise qualified candidates)
• American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification

• Ability to communicate effectively in person, over email, and on the phone
• Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English
• Ability to work in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, stoop, and kneel frequently
• Ability to see, hear, and cognitively recognize situations requiring lifeguarding services

Pay and Schedule

This position is currently for two hours per week in Newton with a competitive starting pay of $30.00-$40.00 per hour. The pay offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications and experience, and internal equity.
