APRN-Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – External Occupational Health - Optional Part Time

About the role

Workforce Health partners with over 400 employers to promote workplace health, safety, and a full range of occupational medicine services. The organization is seeking an experienced APRN‑Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a dynamic team that provides pre‑employment, DOT, work‑injury, drug‑testing, and employee‑safety services through both in‑person and virtual visits. The position offers autonomy to deliver independent patient care while benefiting from the resources and expertise of a collaborative environment within a large hospital system (Froedtert & MCW Health) and an academic affiliation with the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑employment examinations and DOT physicals.
• Evaluate and manage work‑related injuries.
• Perform drug‑testing and employee‑safety assessments.
• Provide occupational health services via in‑person and virtual visits.
• Deliver independent patient care while collaborating with the Medical Director and multidisciplinary team.
• Travel to various occupational health locations as business needs dictate.

Requirements

• Must obtain DOT certification within six months of hire.
• Comfortable seeing patients aged 16 years or older.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and appropriate work restrictions.
• Basic understanding of Wisconsin workers’ compensation program.
• Willingness to work at multiple locations based on business need.

Qualifications

• Current APRN‑Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license.
• Relevant experience in occupational health or related clinical setting.

Skills

• Knowledge of OSHA standards and workers’ compensation processes.
• Ability to conduct both in‑person and virtual patient encounters.
• Strong clinical decision‑making and independent patient‑care capabilities.
• Effective collaboration with medical leadership and interdisciplinary teams.

Schedule

Position has no weekends or holidays. Optional part‑time positions are available at the following external occupational health locations: Manitowoc, Menomonee Falls, Milwaukee, New Berlin, Oak Creek, Wauwatosa, and West Bend.
