APRN Nurse Practitioner (Obstetrics and Gynecology)

About the Role
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to work inpatient and outpatient alongside physician faculty and residents within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This position is ideal for individuals interested in clinical practice, teaching, and scholarship. The role focuses on providing comprehensive healthcare, enriching medical education, and pursuing scholarly interests to improve women’s health.
The APRN will primarily focus on outpatient women's healthcare, including obstetrics and gynecology, preconception counseling, early pregnancy education, and menopausal care. This position requires a faculty appointment to receive clinical privileges at the University of Illinois.
Responsibilities
- Manage patient care within assigned area and scope of practice, including health assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Obtain and interpret patient health history, tests, and records.
- Perform physical exams, diagnostic procedures, and prescribe pharmacologic/non-pharmacologic interventions.
- Develop educational plans for patients and families.
- Coordinate patient scheduling for procedures, consultations, and referrals.
- Document treatment effectiveness and modify plans as needed.
- Participate in the education of nursing students, medical students, residents, and other healthcare disciplines through case conferences, precepting, mentoring, and curriculum development.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice.
- Graduation from an accredited APRN program.
- Current Illinois licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in women’s health, gynecology, or menopause management.
- Experience in outpatient practice.
- Demonstrated interest in teaching.
