About the Role

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria is seeking an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to work inpatient and outpatient alongside physician faculty and residents within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This position is ideal for individuals interested in clinical practice, teaching, and scholarship. The APRN will provide comprehensive healthcare, participate in educational experiences for students and residents, and contribute to scholarly pursuits aimed at improving women’s health.

This role offers a balance of patient care, teaching future physicians, scholarly activities, and a flexible work/life program. The position primarily focuses on outpatient women’s healthcare, including obstetrics and gynecology, preconception counseling, early pregnancy education, and menopausal care. The APRN will collaborate closely with physician faculty, residents, nursing staff, and an interdisciplinary healthcare team while supporting the educational mission of UICOMP.

Responsibilities

  • Manage patient care within assigned area and scope of practice, including health assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning.
  • Obtain and interpret patient health histories, test results, and physical exam findings.
  • Perform diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic procedures; order and interpret screenings and laboratory tests.
  • Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions and develop treatment plans.
  • Create and implement patient/family educational plans.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling for procedures, including documentation and referrals to other services.
  • Assess treatment effectiveness and modify plans as needed in collaboration with patients and the healthcare team.
  • Participate in the education of nursing students, medical students, residents, and other healthcare disciplines through case conferences, precepting, mentoring, and curriculum development.
  • Maintain a faculty appointment to receive clinical privileges at the University of Illinois Health System.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
  • Graduation from an accredited APRN program.
  • Current Illinois licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in women’s health, gynecology, or menopause management.
  • Experience in outpatient practice.
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching.
