APPRENTICESHIP INITIATIVE MANAGER
About the role
The Office of Illinois Works is focused on creating equitable and inclusive job opportunities within the State of Illinois, along with creating a viable and sustainable workforce pipeline in the construction and trade industries. The Apprenticeship Initiative Manager is responsible for leading the compliance program within an assigned portfolio of state agencies.
Responsibilities
- Aid the Senior Apprenticeship Program Manager over the Illinois Works 10% and 5% Apprenticeship requirement compliance.
- Receive, process, review, and make initial determinations on Illinois Works 10% and 5% Apprenticeship grantee and contractor paperwork and required supporting documents.
- Develop, maintain, and implement internal deadlines, ensuring timely processing of tasks and act as central point of contact for Illinois Works 10% and 5% Apprenticeship reporting.
- Serve as team leader for the Apprenticeship Compliance Section by providing support, coaching, and collaboration.
Requirements
- Knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
- Two (2) years of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
- Two (2) years of experience in compliance administration including enforcing compliance requirements and evaluating project/program data.
- Two (2) years of experience leading an apprenticeship-related program for a public or private organization.
- Two (2) years of experience with construction project management.
- Two (2) years of experience reviewing and interpreting federal and state policies, procedures, and statutes related to an Apprenticeship Initiative or capital construction projects.
- Two (2) years of experience reviewing, analyzing and revising business processes and procedures to increase the quality of outcomes.
- Two (2) years of experience interacting with, communicating and presenting in verbal and/or written form with internal and external stakeholders.
- Two (2) years of experience serving as a team leader and providing training to staff.
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office Software and SharePoint to document workflow and generate reports.
Qualifications
- Completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.
- Ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.

Pay
Anticipated Starting Salary (Effective 7/1/26): $6,820 monthly; Full Range: $6,820 - $9,875 monthly
