Apprentice Welder

About the role

We are looking for a Welder to join our team in one of today's most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor and based in Fremont, CA. This is a fully on-site, in office role.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret Work Instruction's to determine specific welding requirements
• Weld horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
• Position and clamps parts together in fixtures
• Accurately count all pieces to ensure quality control of parts prior to welding
• Operate welding equipment according to operating manual
• Complete required paperwork in a correct and timely manner
• Operate hoist and power lift stand
• Load and unload jigs
• Perform leak testing checks on finished welding products
• Follow Standard Operating Procedures and/or Work Instructions exactly as written to produce a quality product
• Fabricate components for use in a solid oxide fuel cell electrical power generator
• Maintain all machine shop equipment and 5S upkeep
• Notify management of shop consumables (i.e. cutting oils, welding gasses, tooling and bits, etc.) in order to maintain inventories
• Create assembly and fabrication fixtures
• Address and recommend improved methods for creating hardware and assemblies
• Perform basic job functions as directed safely and efficiently
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
• 1 Year Required Experience In TIG Welding
• Preferred 2-3 years working experience where hands on manufacturing practices were required
• Required Experience In Following Required Work Instructions
• Preferred valid certificate in Welding from an accredited institution
• Must have mechanical skills and able to use basic shop tools and equipment

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing and performing repetitive tasks
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. at a time
• Must have manual dexterity in order to assemble products as directed
• Must have excellent hand-eye coordination
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Could be required to wear a respirator and pass a Fit test

Pay & Schedule

• Shift: Thurs - Sat, alternating Wed from 6pm-6am
• Salary Ranges: $24.37 - $35.07
