About the role

The Technician is a heavy equipment mechanic specializing in maintaining and repairing cranes. This position performs routine maintenance, such as lubricating parts, as well as troubleshooting and fixing malfunctions. The role operates in a safety-first environment and requires availability for on-call, after-hours, and weekend services to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Be on-call and provide after-hours services as required.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and upgrade industrial hoists and cranes in the field at customer locations.
  • Perform OSHA-required hoist and crane inspections and generate inspection reports and repair orders.
  • Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager to schedule and complete work on a daily basis.
  • Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles in a safe and responsible manner; notify supervisor of any deficiencies.
  • Maintain the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Attend company-provided trainings and seminars as required.
  • Participate in the HCSG 5 Marks program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Labor-intensive work requiring lifting up to 50 lbs daily and up to 100 lbs on rare occasions.
  • 90% of time spent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, overhead reaching, bending, squatting, and prolonged standing or sitting.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling.
  • Frequent hand and eye coordination required.
  • Regular work at heights exceeding 50 feet.
  • Travel required (20–50%) and willingness to work various shifts, including on-call and overtime.
  • Occasional out-of-town travel at the company’s discretion.

Work Environment

  • Work performed inside or outside, depending on customer requirements, with exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures (summer temperatures can exceed 120 degrees).
  • Frequent exposure to noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors.

Requirements

  • 0–2 years of crane experience in an industrial facility.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Commitment to working and driving safely.
  • Willingness to work off the ground at various heights.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with others and work independently or as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational/Technical training certificate.
  • Some electrical and mechanical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and/or possession of personal hand tools.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check (DISA) and submit to random and annual drug testing as required.
