Appointment-Based Surgery Veterinary Assistant 2

About the role

DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistants (Level 2) to join their new Appointment-Based Surgery team.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care while supporting a positive client experience.
• Support veterinarians and technicians by assisting with orthopedic and other surgical procedures, including scrubbing in as needed, serving as a circulating assistant to maintain OR flow, retrieving supplies during procedures, assist with OR cleaning, and instrumentation.
• Care for patients during post-extubation sedation/anesthesia recovery.
• Assist with orthopedic radiographs.
• Recheck appointments.
• Discharge post-operative patients.
• Assist in answering client questions as needed.

Requirements

• 1+ year working as a veterinary assistant, or a combination of experience working in the veterinary field and current enrollment in an AVMA accredited tech program.
• Preferred minimum of one year emergency or other specialty small animal care experience.

Benefits

• Wage: $23-$26 per hour depending on experience, education and certifications. This position also qualifies for overnight and weekend differential pay for applicable shifts.
