Surgery Veterinary Assistant

About the role

VCA Veterinary Emergency Service & Veterinary Specialty Center is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support our board-certified surgeon in performing intricate surgeries. Our facility offers advanced technology and a compassionate team dedicated to providing high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Animal Restraint
• Laboratory duties
• Auxiliary duties in radiographs and other diagnostic testing
• Assisting with surgical preparation
• Maintaining proper sterile conditions
• Preparing an operating room for surgery
• Transports all surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas
• Cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets
• Gowning and gloving surgeons
• Assisting surgeons during surgery
• Performing sterile scrub assists
• Restocking supplies as needed
• Maintaining patient records
• Assisting with postoperative care

Requirements

• 2+ years of Veterinary Assistant experience
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds repeatedly
• Ability to bend and kneel repeatedly
• Ability to stand for long periods of time

Schedule

Full-time, Monday - Wednesday at our Madison location and Fridays at our Middleton, WI location.
