The Michigan Society of Fellows invites applications for a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan starting August 2026, offering $63,000 annually and emphasizing interdisciplinary research.

Responsibilities

• Hold dual appointments as Assistant Professors and Postdoctoral Scholars
• Teach the equivalent of one academic year, i.e., a total of two terms during the period of the fellowship
• Participate in monthly colloquia
• Attend dinners of the Society
• Engage in conversation with other members about their intellectual interests
• Serve as evaluators for the Distinguished Dissertations Awards sponsored by the Rackham Graduate School

Requirements

• Curriculum vitae
• Writing/work sample – not to exceed 40, double-spaced pages for unpublished work; not to exceed 20, single-spaced pages for published work
• Research proposal – not to exceed 3, double-spaced pages

Qualifications

• Recent Ph.D. graduates in the humanities, arts, sciences, and professions (excluding American Culture, History of Art, Law, and Middle East Studies)
• Completed Ph.D. (or comparable professional or artistic) degree between June 1, 2023, and August 30, 2026
• Not eligible if the candidate received their terminal degree from the University of Michigan
• Non-US citizens may apply and will be considered
