About the role
We are expanding our team and are seeking motivated, technically curious individuals who are eager to build a career in industrial automation and process control. As an Application Specialist I, you will receive comprehensive training while working alongside experienced engineers and sales professionals. You will help customers identify the right solutions, prepare quotations, support projects, and gain hands-on experience with industry-leading technologies.
Responsibilities
- Prepare customer quotations and Requests for Quotation (RFQs)
- Recommend standard product solutions based on customer application requirements (training provided)
- Partner with outside sales representatives to develop customer solutions
- Communicate with customers, manufacturers, and internal teams throughout the sales process
- Maintain accurate customer and project information within our CRM system
- Support order processing, delivery coordination, and project follow-up
- Identify opportunities to expand customer solutions through complementary products and services
- Develop technical knowledge of instrumentation, control valves, actuators, gas detection systems, and related process control technologies
Requirements
- Education: One of the following: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering field; Bachelor's degree in Business with demonstrated technical aptitude; Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience: 0-2 years of professional experience; Internships, co-op programs, undergraduate research, or relevant technical coursework are highly valued
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; Experience with CRM systems is a plus but not required; Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to learn technical products and software quickly; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Qualifications
- Acceptable Alternative Qualifications: We also welcome candidates with: Associate degree plus 1-3 years of technical or industrial experience; Technical school or trade school education with relevant hands-on experience; Military technical experience; Instrumentation, maintenance, commissioning, or field service experience
Physical Requirments
- This position is primarily office-based with occasional visits to manufacturing facilities and customer sites.
- Employees should be able to: Sit or stand for extended periods throughout the workday; Walk periodically throughout office and warehouse environments; Occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 10 pounds; Reach above shoulder height or below the waist as needed; Wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and hearing protection, during facility or customer site visits
