About the role
Silvus Technologies, a leading provider of advanced MANET and MIMO communications systems, is seeking an Applications Engineer - I to join the Sales Engineering team. The successful candidate will conduct a wide range of technical activities relating to applications/solutions engineering and customer and sales support.
Responsibilities
- Design and test complete solutions that solve unique technical problems.
- Define new products and features to fill gaps and perform product evaluations and field trials for new product features and accessories.
- Provide comprehensive support to customers and the sales team through troubleshooting, system integration engineering, product recommendations, and technical analysis via phone, online, and in person.
- Participate in an off-hour, on-call support rotation (on a voluntary or scheduled basis as business needs require) to address critical customer escalations.
- Work individually and with Engineering teams to support requests via in-house or through field testing and validation.
- Test and harden existing features through firmware and hardware changes in realistic applications.
- Support the Sales Engineering team by helping prepare for demonstrations, training, testing, or recreating bugs and issues seen in the field.
- Create and maintain customer-facing documents and content including manuals, guides, videos, application notes, etc. to support customers and sales more efficiently.
- Oversee and assist the RMA and Loaner teams by providing guidance, equipment recommendations, and vetting customer requests.
- Travel requirements – Up to 25% travel to provide in-person engineering support to customers and the sales team, including demos, troubleshooting, system integration, and training.
- Perform other related duties, of which the above are representative.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related technical field.
- Proficiency with instruments such as spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators, and other radio frequency and data network test equipment and testing.
- An ability to work independently, take initiative, multitask, and effectively interact with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must to effectively communicate with customers and internally across the entire organization.
- Excellent organizational skills and attentiveness to details.
- Proficiency with PC office applications and mobile devices.
- A willingness to travel and work at customer sites.
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.
Qualifications
- Experience with TCP/IP protocol and networking.
- Experience with operating and testing IP radios/modems.
- Knowledge of wireless communication systems, radio frequency signal propagation, and digital communication technologies.
- Experience with testing embedded radio communication systems.
- Familiarity with Linux.
- Proficiency with programming languages such as Python or C/C++.
Benefits
- PAY: $75,000 - $95,000 / annually
- COMPENSATION: Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
