Responsibilities
- Trips to provide engineering support for sales presentations, system audits, mill surveys, system start-ups, and trouble-shooting assignments.
- Acts as the applications lead for capital projects involving up to three unit operations.
- Handles systems technology questions from Sales & Marketing personnel, as well as calls from customers.
- Analyzes customers' technical requirements/specifications, conducts feasibility checks, and translates project requirements into costing and customer offers.
- Prepares additional content as required for proposals; organizes all proposal information and prepares proposals.
- Maintains the Applications Engineering drawings and project files, along with maintaining the reference drawing files and TIB application manuals.
- Prepares process flow sheets containing complete material balancing and equipment identification.
- Writes and presents technical papers, informing the paper industry of KBC's latest system technology.
- Selects the proper equipment from technical manuals and from experience to implement process functions defined on flow sheets.
- Prepares handover documentation to the order execution team after customer order is received.
- Acts as a peer mentor and is actively involved in training less experienced Applications Engineers.
- Possesses a working knowledge of all KBC's stock prep foundation products.
Qualifications

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Possesses system material balancing skills and understands process instrumentation and controls.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. ERP and AutoCAD experience preferred.
- Demonstrates KBC values of personal accountability, discipline, trust, and proactive action.
- This position requires a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, pulp & paper Science, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- A basic knowledge of KBC equipment and systems technology, including process control, is required.
- Four or more years’ experience in process engineering is preferred.
