Job Summary
The ideal candidate will have experience with Agile Methodologies, SDLC practices, DevSecOps, Secure Coding practices, and the Solutions Development Framework (Docker, Jenkins, GitLab), as well as experience with Cloud architecture, design, and development. They should also have knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes, change management, configuration management, and application lifecycle management.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and translate business requirements into efficient database designs that meet the data needs of the organization and align with the business goals and processes.
- Create conceptual, logical, and physical database models using tools like ERD diagrams.
- Utilize common database design patterns to solve recurring design problems.
- Utilize common data integration techniques to consolidate data from multiple sources into a cohesive and consistent dataset.
- Implement normalization techniques to reduce redundancy and improve data integrity.
- Implement indexing strategies to optimize query performance and data retrieval.
- Use data security best practices to enforce data privacy and protect sensitive information.
- Design databases that can scale horizontally or vertically to handle increasing workloads.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, architects, and other team members to ensure the database design meets the project requirements.
- Work closely with team members, stakeholders, and business users to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms.
- Use SQL (Structured Query Language) for querying, manipulating, and managing data within databases.
- Perform database administration tasks such as performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, and user access control.
Requirements
- Proficiency in database management systems like MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.
- Strong understanding of database concepts, normalization, indexing, and query optimization.
- Knowledge of data modeling concepts and tools to design database structures, entities, relationships, and data flow diagrams.
- Ability to troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to optimize database performance and data integrity.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to analyze data, identify patterns, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Familiarity with database administration tasks such as performance tuning, backup and recovery, security management, and user access control.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and business users, and to translate technical concepts into non-technical terms.
- Working knowledge (2+ years’ experience) of one or more of the following qualifications: Agile Methodologies, SDLC practices, DevSecOps, Secure Coding practices, and the Solutions Development Framework (Docker, Jenkins, GitLab), Cloud architecture, design, and development, business process re-engineering principles and processes, change management, configuration management, and application lifecycle management.
Qualifications
- A degree from an accredited College/University in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
- If resource does not have a relevant college degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required.
Additional Provisions
- Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance, pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
- All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident only.
- Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
- Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years.
- Military service excluded (exception does not include military family members).
