The Applications Analyst I supports the State of Arkansas' Enterprise Resource and Planning system. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions.

About the role

The Department of Finance and Administration aims to provide convenient, effective, and courteous service to encourage voluntary compliance with tax, license, and child support laws.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate business requirements and translate them into functional specifications for applications.
  • Analyze existing applications to identify areas for improvement, optimization, or replacement.
  • Collaborate with agencies to gather requirements, address concerns, and provide updates.
  • Test and validate applications to ensure proper functionality and alignment with business needs.
  • Develop and document processes, user guides, and training materials for end-users.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application-related issues to maintain system reliability.
  • Support the integration of new applications or updates into existing systems.
  • Maintain and monitor application performance to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with information technology teams and vendors to deploy and maintain software solutions.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least Two (2) years' experience with SAP or another application dealing with Finance, Budget, and/or Procurement.
  • Business process knowledge in State budget and funds management is highly preferred.
  • Ability to research new technology & propose the implementation where feasible to analyze, interpret and improve state business processes.
  • Well versed in current versions of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work multiple work items to targeted completion dates.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of IT systems and controls, identify problems, and devise corrective actions within the system to satisfy agency and state needs.
