Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the successful execution of proposals from Inquiry to Order, with particular emphasis on very complex project proposals.
  • Accountable to ensure that scope, cost, cycle, legal, and commercial risk are managed while winning orders.
  • Review of technical specifications, terms, and conditions for job proposal and contracts that includes preliminary control system design, hardware requirements, tool development, control system diagram generation and description, control narrative, network architecture generation, P&IDs review and as needed engineering studies and design documents to generate basis of design documents for successful projects.
  • Collaboration and seeking support as needed from Project Engineering team and SMEs in the technical solution preparation.
  • Creates and maintains an efficient system of inquiry handling and proposal generation to ensure that RFQs are comprehensively completed to properly reflect the technical and commercial needs of the project as well as overseeing the quoting process to ensure process adherence.
  • Proactively negotiating T&C’s with customers and providing guidance to Account Managers on T&Cs prior to escalation to Contract Management.
  • Controls pricing within published guidelines and handles all requests for discounts and any other deviations in the DOA process. Ensures that pricing deviations are properly approved and tracked, per the delegation of authority matrix and bid approval process.
  • Tracks proposal turnaround efficiency and quality within leveraging existing tools.
  • Ensures that the HOF process to the Execution Team is followed and in compliance to fully meet Project Execution requirements.
  • Aid in the review of existing customer installations to look for process improvements and related economical justifications and with site surveys.
  • Attend site surveys, customer bid clarification meetings and manage technical and commercial bid clarifications.
  • Provide technical support for sales employees, representatives and customers and information to order-entry group.
  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Must have 5 plus years of experience in control engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior Knowledge of Oil and Gas Industry
  • Turbo Machinery Controls and Proposal
  • Strongly preferred to have a University Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Understanding of costing and pricing models
  • Familiarity with field instrumentation, monitoring systems, plant software and controls installations
  • Satisfactory knowledge of basic commercial/T&C term and negotiation techniques.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with internal and external resources to meet goals
  • Read, speak, and write in English required.

About the Role

The Sr. Application Engineer reports directly to our Regional General Manager GBE and works out of our Houston, TX or Des Moines, IA location on a Hybrid work schedule.

Requirements
