Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop PLC programs and HMI/SCADA applications (Rockwell, AVEVA) to meet process and control requirements.
- Create, maintain, and optimize database schemas and SQL queries for historian, MES and reporting systems.
- Develop desktop and thinclient software using .NET Framework, C#, Visual Studio and WPF for operator interfaces, diagnostics, and reporting.
- Integrate hardware components (PLCs, RTUs, I/O modules) and networked devices; configure communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, etc.).
- Collaborate with process engineers, control engineers and stakeholders to gather requirements, produce technical specifications, and deliver testable designs.
- Perform system testing, validation, FAT/SAT support and onsite commissioning and troubleshooting to ensure reliable operation.
- Diagnose and resolve software, database and hardware issues across production systems and provide timely support and maintenance.
- Write clear technical documentation, including design documents, test plans, SOPs and user manuals; provide training to operators and maintenance teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, including performance tuning, cybersecurity best practices and standardization of application libraries and templates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial automation, control systems or application engineering with PLC and SCADA projects.
- Proven experience programming Rockwell PLCs (Studio 5000/RSLogix) and developing AVEVA (Wonderware/AVEVA System Platform) or equivalent SCADA/HMI applications.
- Strong SQL and database experience (designing schemas, writing optimized queries, integrating historians/MES).
- Proficient in .NET Framework, C#, Visual Studio and Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) for building operator interfaces and applications.
- Experience creating or deploying thinclient solutions and familiarity with industrial networking and protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, OPC).
- Hand-on experience with hardware integration, I/O wiring concepts, and commissioning industrial control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear technical documentation and deliver training.
- Relevant certifications (Rockwell, AVEVA, Microsoft) or prior experience with information systems/industrial IT are a plus.
