About the role

FCI Basics, an Amphenol business approaching $500 million in annual revenue, is seeking a driven, hunter-style Application Development Manager to develop new opportunities and grow strategic customer relationships across North America. FCI Basics operates globally, with offices and operations across the United States, France, China, India, Mexico, Indonesia, Tunisia, and other international locations. Our solutions support high-growth markets including robotics, energy storage, automotive, IT and telecommunications, hyperscalers, AI and data centers, and other emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with customers, internal product development, product marketing, and sales teams, performing as an extension of Basics BU engineering team.
  • Support Amphenol's growth in diverse markets like Automotive, Robotics, Energy Storage & AI infrastructure by ensuring reliable, efficient and scalable hardware and interconnect designs.
  • Work with customers to develop solutions that address their needs and satisfy technical requirements.
  • Develop expertise in PCB design and development, including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, and design.
  • Use at least one PCB/electrical design tool such as Altium, Cadence/OrCAD, PADS, KiCad, or equivalent.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of electrical and engineering fundamentals, including power distribution, voltage/current, circuit protection, grounding, and basic analog/digital electronics.
  • Assess customer needs, match them with current products or propose modifications to current products and/or new product concepts for further development.
  • Challenge existing designs and use a first principles approach to innovate and accelerate new products in the roadmap.
  • Create technical presentations to propose concepts and present solutions to customers.
  • Lead internal design reviews and product development meetings with customers.
  • Use internal systems such as Windchill, product configurators, and Creo.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics, drawings, specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Perform hands-on prototyping, testing, debugging, and hardware troubleshooting.
  • Engage product engineers, CAE engineers, process engineers, and relevant project team members to support design proposals and facilitate lab testing.
  • Devise strategies to differentiate products and solutions from competitors and propose technical product improvements.
  • Develop trusted adviser relationships with engineering teams of key customers.
  • Lead and/or participate in new product Voice of Customer activities.
  • Fill patents.
  • Design prototypes.
  • Guarantee deliverables are completed on time.
  • Travel required.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in PCB design and development, including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, and design.
  • Proficiency with at least one PCB/electrical design tool such as Altium, Cadence/OrCAD, PADS, KiCad, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and engineering fundamentals, including power distribution, voltage/current, circuit protection, grounding, and basic analog/digital electronics.
  • Ability to accurately assess customer needs and match them with current products or propose modifications/new product concepts.
  • Ability to challenge existing designs and innovate using a first principles approach.
