Primary Responsibilities
- Working with live high voltage conductors
- Maintenance of electrical equipment
- Installation of underground power lines
- Repair of overhead lines and poles
- Install and maintain NRLP’s fiber optic network cables
- Climbing, hand work, digging, heavy lifting, and all weather work is required
- Train and assist less experienced “B” lineworkers with the proper repair of live high and low voltage lines
- Use of various powered equipment and safety techniques including; climbing gear, bucket/digger trucks, excavators, high voltage gloves, and hoses
Job Requirements
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities involving the construction, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage underground and overhead primary and secondary electric distribution lines
- Thorough knowledge of all applicable codes and methods of installation and repair
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and recommend corrective actions
- Operate University owned vehicles and possess a valid driver’s license
- Journeyman level skills and knowledge, capable of completing both physical and technical duties
- Live or relocate to within approximately 20 minute commute of Boone within 90 days of hire
- High school graduate
- Credentials from an Electrical Utility Lineman School Program and 4 years of electrical Lineworker related work experience or 5 years of electrical Lineworker related work experience
- Holds DoL journeyman credentials
- Holds CDL Class B license
