About the role

The pediatric surgical APP works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. The APP functions as a member of the surgical management team. In conjunction with the attending, the APP will oversee care from clinic to OR/inpatient to discharge and throughout all aspects of the continuum of care. This position will be predominantly an inpatient role with some supportive clinic coverage. As this is a pediatric service, the APP will assist both with patient and family care and help support the whole unit as they move through the UK system. The APP has a strong foundation in evidenced-based practice and education and ensures an environment of safe quality care. This position requires systems thinking and a high level of clinical skill.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care from clinic to OR/inpatient to discharge as part of the surgical management team.
  • Provide inpatient care with some supportive clinic coverage.
  • Assist with patient and family care in a pediatric setting.
  • Support the unit throughout the UK HealthCare system.
  • Apply evidenced-based practice and education to ensure safe, high-quality care.
  • Demonstrate advanced medical and nursing knowledge, clinical and technical competency, and sound clinical judgment.
  • Maintain professionalism in interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ensure timely and compliant documentation.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and competency validation.

Requirements

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) for Nurse Practitioners or Bachelor of Science (BS) for Physician Assistants.
  • 1 year of required related experience.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (CPNP-AC) certification or enrollment in a post-graduate certificate program within one year of hire, or Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (ACNP/CPNP-AC) certification.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • Occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 50 lbs.

Pay

$106,777–162,350/year

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week
