APP Nurse Practitioner| Pre-Anesthesia Clinic
Job Summary
The Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner provides advanced nursing care to patients of all ages, from infants to older adults. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic illnesses, promoting health and wellness, and working in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, master's degree in nursing is preferred.
- Experience in Primary Care or Family Medicine preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
- State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
- National board certification as a Family (FNP-C) or (FNP-BC)
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.

Practice Details
- Patient care and patient management for PAC (Pre-anesthesia Clinic), collaborating with Anesthesiologists & CRNAs.
- Performs initial evaluation to determine if patient can continue or should be referred to a supervising physician.
- Provides pre-procedure patient history and physicals and orders appropriate testing, workup, and medications based on patient need and/or protocol.
- Provides pre-procedure teaching, education, discharge instructions, and may review consent forms with patient.
- Works closely with surgery scheduling, surgery administration, and clinic to provide timely elective procedures, scheduling follow-up procedures, and clinic visits.
