About the Role

The Acute Care Surgery Service (ACS) has an exciting opportunity for an Advance Practice Provider (APP) looking to join the Advance Practice team at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH). CRMH is a 737-bed full-service tertiary/quaternary care academic health center, the flagship institution of Carilion Clinic, certified as the region's only Level 1 trauma center since 1983. The ACS APP service consists of 12 Full Time APPs, numerous Flex Time APPs and APP Fellows, with a leadership structure focused on optimizing and supporting the APP group to improve productivity, job satisfaction, talent utilization and maximization of scope of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Patient management and clinical decision making
  • Bedside procedures including incision and drainage, chest tube placement and removal, wound repair, wound management, drain management, central lines, dialysis catheters, and arterial lines
  • Teaching of patients, family and staff
  • Perform history and physicals; order and interpret tests; make preliminary diagnosis; treat injuries/illness; assist with surgical procedures; counsel patient and/or prescribe medication
  • Provide care from initial consult throughout the hospital stay
  • Maintain a patient-family centered focus throughout the hospital course
  • Manage complex social situations and plan for safe and successful hospital discharge with proper follow-up to minimize readmissions
  • Opportunities may include research involvement, quality and process improvement, peer review committees and shared governance
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team including Attending Physicians, Residents, other APPs, medical and APP students, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Pharmacists, Case Managers, Social workers, and Consultants

Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Experience: 0 years
  • Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP), DEA license and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required or Physician Assistant
  • AHA BLS-HCP certification required; Advanced Life Support certification preferred
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine
  • Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records

Compensation

$107,993.60 - $172,785.60. Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
