Responsibilities

• Transforms healthcare by determining the patient's health and medical status through health history and physical exams.
• Assesses and manages acute illness, pregnancy, minor trauma, and chronic illness and conditions.
• Interprets health data and analyzes it to determine appropriate interventions and referrals.
• Administers medications and injections as needed and conducts preventive screenings based on age and history.
• Documents patient information, including treatment procedures, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns.
• Coordinates necessary appointments and referrals, utilizing community resources as needed.
• Utilizes automated computer systems, including electronic medical records, to document patient information and update treatment procedures.
• Provides patient/family education and promotes health maintenance activities.
• Works collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers, communicates effectively, and acts as a resource to others.

Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current state Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP), DEA license, and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required.
• AHA BLS-HCP certification required.
• Advanced Life Support certification preferred.
• Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
• Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers, possess good written and oral communication skills, and be computer literate for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
