About the role

Carilion Family Medicine – Colonial Avenue is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their team. This opportunity is ideal for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) who enjoys building long-term relationships with patients and providing high-quality, comprehensive primary care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary and preventive care to patients.
• Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic health conditions.
• Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing.
• Develop individualized treatment and follow-up plans.
• Educate patients and families about disease prevention, wellness, medications, and treatment plans.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, specialists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and support quality and patient-safety initiatives.
• Help create an exceptional experience for patients and their families.

• Primary care or family medicine experience is preferred; qualified candidates with a strong interest in family medicine are encouraged to apply.

What We Require

• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner program or an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
• Experience: 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
• Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Nurse Practitioners must also hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia. Must be eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with state regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
• Life Support: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required as appropriate to the position.
• Other Minimum Qualifications: Must maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of Carilion Clinic, the Virginia Board of Medicine or Nursing, and applicable certifying bodies.
• Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer systems required.

Pay & Benefits

$107,993.60 - $172,785.60
