APP- Electrophysiology

Responsibilities

• Clinical Care
• Provides assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs.
• Obtains medical histories, performs physical examinations, reviews/orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and radiologic results.
• Formulates and manages patient treatment plans.
• Performs procedures, prescribes treatment and medications as per institutional and state guidelines.
• May function as first or second assistant on operative cases.
• Patient Education & Psychosocial Support
• Edits patients/families on care and recommended or available resources.
• Provides psychosocial support to patients, their family members, and significant others.
• Information Management
• Ensures appropriate documentation within hospital and regulatory requirements.
• Quality Management
• Demonstrates high standard of moral and ethical behavior.
• Ensures compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements.
• Professional Development
• Maintains and advances professional competency.
• Serves as a clinical resource for new house staff.
• Reports safety events and near misses.
• Serves as a clinical preceptor for NP/PA students and other health care professionals.
• Collaborates on research, quality assurance, and performance improvement projects.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
• Experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line preferred but not required.
• Licensure: Active PA Certification by NCCPA, Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified, DEA License.
• Electrophysiology experience preferred.
• Cardiology experience or new grads with clinical rotations in Cardiology strongly preferred.
• Licensure: Connecticut State Registered Nurse License, Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License, Board specialty certification, as appropriate for position profile.
