Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as part of an interdisciplinary team in inpatient, ambulatory, or outpatient settings.
  • Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, review/order diagnostic/therapeutic tests and radiologic results, and formulate/manage patient treatment plans in collaboration with supervising/collaborating physicians.
  • Perform procedures, prescribe treatments and medications in accordance with institutional and state guidelines, and within professional competency standards.
  • Function as first or second assistant on operative cases, using fine motor skills and manual dexterity, where scope and education prerequisites allow.
  • Conduct elective and urgent outpatient Electrophysiology visits.
  • Perform implantable device interrogations, including ICDs and pacemakers.
  • Manage remote monitoring for patients with implantable cardiac devices.
  • Perform LINQ insertions in both outpatient and hospital settings.
  • Provide Electrophysiology coverage at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.
  • Evaluate hospitalized patients, including admissions, consultations, and follow-up care.
  • Participate in cardiovascular urgent care evaluations as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Electrophysiology physicians to optimize patient flow and procedural capacity.
  • Educate patients/families on care, treatment plans, side effects, and discharge instructions.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation in compliance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
  • Engage in projects to maintain and advance professional competency, serve as a clinical resource, and participate in research, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a clinical preceptor for NP/PA students and other healthcare professionals, and mentor pre-PA/NP candidates.
  • Maintain all employee requirements as determined by hospital policy.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
  • Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or Connecticut State Registered Nurse License with Nurse Practitioner License and board specialty certification.
  • Connecticut State Physician Assistant License (if applicable).
  • ACLS/BLS Certified (when indicated for position profile).
  • DEA License.
  • Additional licensure, certifications, or continuing education credits may be required based on position and specialty (e.g., PALS for pediatric profiles, NRP for neonatal care).
  • APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and complete the Medical Staff credentialing process, including providing evidence of current competence and reference letters.

Preferred experience includes Electrophysiology or Cardiology, or new graduates with clinical rotations in Cardiology.

Full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (40 scheduled hours per week).
