About the role
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is an advanced practice nurse who provides expert care and evidence-based nursing interventions for patients of the NCH Physician Group. They collaborate with the APPs, management team, peers, and staff to enhance nursing practices and promote an evidence-based professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop an active communication strategy with medical and other staff to keep them informed about work requirements.
- Work under the approved and agreed protocol signed by their supervising NCH Physician Group physician.
- Participate in the development of the practice’s strategic plan, including long and short-term goals and objectives.
- Follow the performance evaluation program created by the Quality of Care Committee.
- Facilitate the recruitment of high-quality APPs and other professional personnel for the NCH Physician Group.
- Deliver medical care consistent with the terms of managed care and insurance contracts.
- Aid in preparing for and responding to all litigation involving the NCH Physician Group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Exemplify the clinical and administrative tone that sets the tone for all professional and administrative staff.
- Ensure the integrity and quality of clinical programs are protected, fostered, and improved.
- Participate in NCH Physician Group’s programs of performance improvement with the goal of clinical excellence and improved patient outcomes.
- Ensure NCH Physician Group’s Medical Services meet all necessary accreditation and regulatory review standards.
- Support high-quality and efficient clinical operations within NCH Physician Group.
- Supervise medical support staff and participate in the design, development, and implementation of clinical programs.
- Oversight of medical services and clinical procedures to ensure appropriateness, quality, and integration into the NCH Physician Group’s clinical program.
- Ensure effective, sufficient, and efficient clinical staffing.
- Participate in committee or work group activities as requested by the supervising physician.
- Ensure effective protection and implementation of the patients' bill of rights.
- Provide direct patient care when necessary for the patient's well-being.
- Serve as a liaison between the medical staff and the Board of Directors.
- Resolve immediate clinical problems affecting patient care.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs to address knowledge and skill deficits among clinical and administrative staff.
- Represent NCH Physician Group in the community through various activities.
- Develop and implement an ongoing marketing plan for the NCH Physician Group.
- Help develop and implement a program of clinical marketing.
- Enhance administrative and medical staff awareness, knowledge, and skill to operate collaboratively within a managed care environment.
- Participate in managed care negotiations and assist in responding to appeals, denials, and other key communications with third-party payers.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field from an accredited school of nursing.
- Completed advanced practice or nurse practitioner program.
- Minimum of experience in clinical settings with outstanding teaching skills and the ability to facilitate organizational change.
- Board Certification in area of specialty, or board eligibility with commitment to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in the State of Florida.
- BLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 3 months of hire.
- Completes all NCH yearly competencies within the allotted timeframe.
- Maintains professional licensing requirements.
- Completes all continuing education requirements needed to practice as an Advanced Practice Provider.
- Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
