About the role

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is an advanced practice nurse who provides expert care and evidence-based nursing interventions for patients of the NCH Medical Group. They work in collaboration with the APPs, management team, peers, and staff to enhance nursing practices and promote an evidence-based professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develops an active communication strategy with administrative and clinical staff to keep them informed about work requirements.
  • Works under the approved and agreed protocol signed by their supervising NCH Medical Group physician.
  • Defines, focuses, and resolves problems in collaboration with the APP’s assigned physician and other clinical and administrative staff.
  • Participates in the development of the practice’s strategic plan, including long and short-term goals and objectives.
  • Follows the performance evaluation program created by the Quality of Care Committee.
  • Facilitates the recruitment of high-quality APPs and other professional personnel for the NCH Medical Group.
  • Delivers medical care in a manner consistent with the terms of managed care and insurance contracts.
  • Assists the NCH Medical Group administrative team in preparing for and responding to all litigation.
  • Provides leadership for all NCH Medical Group’s patient care activities, including:
    • Exemplifying the clinical and administrative tone that sets the tone for all professional and administrative staff.
    • Ensuring the integrity and quality of clinical programs are protected, fostered, and improved.
    • Participating in NCHHG programs of performance improvement to strive for clinical excellence and improved patient outcomes.
    • Ensuring NCH Medical Group’s Medical Services meet all necessary accreditation and regulatory review standards.
    • Fostering high-quality and efficient clinical operations within NCH Medical Group.
    • Supervising medical support staff (e.g., LPN and Medical Assistant).
    • Designing, developing, and implementing clinical programs to provide efficient, effective, economic, and feasible clinical care.
    • Oversight of medical services and clinical procedures to ensure appropriateness, quality, and integration into NCH Medical Group’s clinical program.
    • Safeguarding the patients' bill of rights and providing direct patient care when necessary.
    • Serving as a liaison between the medical staff and the Board of Directors.
    • Resolving immediate clinical problems affecting patient care.
    • Developing policies, procedures, and programs to address knowledge or skill deficits among clinical and administrative staff.
    • Representing NCH Medical Group in the community through various activities.
    • Participating in long-term and short-term planning to ensure NCH Medical Group’s future clinical and economic success.
    • Developing and implementing a marketing plan for NCH Medical Group.
    • Helping to develop and implement a program of clinical marketing.
    • Enhancing administrative and medical staff awareness, knowledge, and skills to operate collaboratively within a managed care environment.
    • Participating in managed care negotiations and responding to appeals, denials, and other key communications with third-party payers.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Completed advanced practice or nurse practitioner program.
  • Minimum of experience in clinical settings with outstanding teaching skills and the ability to facilitate organizational change.
  • Board Certification in area of specialty, or board eligibility with a commitment to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
  • New graduates must be certification eligible upon employment and obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in the State of Florida.
  • BLS certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association within 3 months of hire.
  • Completes all NCH yearly competencies within the allotted timeframe.
  • Maintains professional licensing requirements.
  • Completes all continuing education requirements needed to practice as an Advanced Practice Provider.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
