APP Certified Nurse Midwife/UKHC

About the Role
Under a collaborative agreement with a physician, the certified nurse midwife (CNM) is an Advanced Practice Provider who, in collaboration with an attending physician, is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients. The CNM performs physical exams, collects and documents data, manages labor and spontaneous delivery, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications.
The CNM practice includes primary as well as specialized care provided at UK Women’s Health-Georgetown and Georgetown Community Hospital. The CNM promotes safety and quality in clinical care, contributes to research and teaching, and provides leadership in the organization.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nurse midwifery care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients
- Perform physical exams and collect/document data
- Manage labor and spontaneous delivery
- Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations
- Prescribe appropriate interventions and medications
- Provide primary and specialized care at UK Women’s Health-Georgetown and Georgetown Community Hospital
- Promote safety and quality in clinical care
- Contribute to research and teaching
- Provide leadership within the organization
- Take 8 call shifts per month (equivalent to 4 weeknights plus one weekend per month)
Requirements
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) (Master’s requirement does not apply to those who completed qualifying education by July 1, 2005)
- 1 year of related experience
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) certification
Schedule
- Mostly Monday-Friday, days
- Call coverage and weekend/evening shifts as required
- 8 call shifts per month (4 weeknights plus one weekend per month)
Pay
$117,736–183,667/year
