About the role
Under a collaborative agreement with a physician, the certified nurse midwife (CNM) is an Advanced Practice Provider who, in collaboration with an attending physician, is responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum, and newborn patients. The CNM promotes safety and quality in clinical care, contributes to research and teaching, and provides leadership in the organization.
Responsibilities
- Perform physical exams, collect and document data
- Manage labor and spontaneous delivery
- Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and professional consultations
- Prescribe appropriate interventions and medications
- Provide primary as well as specialized care at UK Women's Health-Georgetown and Georgetown Community Hospital
- Take 8 call shifts per month (equivalent of 4 weeknights plus one weekend per month; weekday work on L&D or in outpatient location is part of normal workweek and not considered a call shift)
Requirements
- MSN (Master's requirement does not apply to those who completed qualifying education by July 1, 2005)
- 1 year related experience
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) certification
Qualifications
- Physical requirements: sitting, standing, lifting, etc.
- Shift: Mostly Monday-Friday, days, with call coverage and weekend/evening shifts as required
Pay
$117,736-183,667/year
