About the role

Join a team of 5 Certified Nurse Midwives in a busy and growing OB practice. This position provides great team collaboration with flexible scheduling. Call Rotation required 32 hours/week with full-time benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Provides midwifery care for patients with obstetric and gynecologic needs during labor delivery and postpartum.
  • Identifies additional needs for mothers and babies in birthing units.
  • Maintains and records information in medical records or provide narrative summaries to communicate patient information to other health care providers.
  • Provides guidance to expectant mothers in prenatal self-care, e.g. nutrition, weight gain, and daily activity levels.
  • Provides prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn, inter-conceptional, well-woman, and gynecologic care and education for women and their families.
  • Maintains records of patient conditions and test results within care plans.
  • May order and interpret diagnostic or laboratory tests as well as prescribe medications as permitted by state regulations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) level education required from an approved accredited nursing educational program of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) and American Midwifery Certification Board Medical (AMCB).
  • Currently holds an unencumbered license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) based on state requirements and Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM).
  • Maintains current registered nursing (RN) license and APRN CNM licensure where the practice is occurring and/or possesses multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Must pass certification examination as stipulated by the appropriate state board.
  • Maintain appointment at their respective Sanford facility.
  • Obtain and maintain approval of applicable scope of practice.

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
