Apartment Maintenance Technician - Bay
About the role
AIR Communities is seeking a Maintenance Technician for Bay Apartments in San Diego, CA. The position offers a starting salary of $23–$25/hr, plus up to $3,000 in annual customer service bonuses and a 50% rent discount valued at $5,000+ per year.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality service to residents with a focus on first-time fix and customer satisfaction
- Complete apartment turns efficiently to meet move-in deadlines
- Diagnose and repair issues across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliances, and general carpentry
- Support preventative maintenance efforts to reduce recurring service requests
- Mentor junior technicians or assist with training as needed
- Assist with vendor oversight and unit inspections when required
Qualifications
- You take pride in doing the job right the first time

- You adapt quickly to technology and structured workflows
- You have 2+ years of maintenance experience in apartments, commercial facilities, hotels, or skilled trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
- You have working knowledge in at least two core trades (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, or carpentry)
- You have the ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs independently
- You are willing to work a flexible schedule including on-call rotations (approximately one week per month)
- You have reliable transportation for emergency response
- You are physically able to lift and move equipment
- You can read, write, and speak English
