Apartment Maintenance Technician

About the role

IMMEDIATE HIRE - Maintenance Technician (Apartment Community). Monarch Investment and Management Group is seeking an Apartment Maintenance Technician to join our team in Akron, OH. This is a hands‑on maintenance position at The Depot community with guaranteed full‑time hours. Monarch is a top‑10 largest multifamily housing company and continues to grow.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all assigned work orders are completed in a timely manner.
• Focus on HVAC‑related work orders:
  • Diagnosing and repairing common HVAC issues
  • Detecting and soldering refrigerant leaks
  • Recharging freon gas
  • Changing failing compressors and blower motors
  • Replacing limit switches & fuses
  • Addressing other common HVAC problems
• Perform basic preventative maintenance including filter changes and coil cleanings.
• Depending on workload, handle non‑HVAC repairs such as plumbing, electrical, and appliances.
• Occasionally perform unit turn maintenance and cleaning.
• Participate in a monthly rotation of a 24/7 on‑call emergency cell phone (1 week every 2 weeks).
• Perform snow removal when needed during winter.
• Complete a written skills maintenance test as part of the interview process.
• Undergo pre‑employment screenings: criminal background check, drug screening, and valid driver’s license verification.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license (required)
• EPA Certification (required)
• Appliance repair skills (preferred)
• Plumbing skills (preferred)
• Multifamily experience (preferred, but all maintenance professionals encouraged to apply)

Pay

Base compensation: $19–$24 per hour

Quarterly bonuses: up to $3,000 per year

On‑call bonus: paid regardless of call‑out frequency

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM day shift.

On‑call rotation: 1 week every 2 weeks.

Full‑time, year‑round work with no layoffs and overtime potential.
