About the role
You will play a vital role in protecting Ohio's land and water resources while working directly with communities, farmers, and conservation partners.
Responsibilities
- Lead efforts to address agricultural pollution by investigating complaints, conducting site visits, and coordinating enforcement actions that protect Ohio's waterways.
- Partner with Soil & Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) to provide technical expertise on nutrient management, conservation practices, and best management strategies.
- Aid local staff in developing and reviewing nutrient management plans and conservation practices that promote long-term sustainability.
- Offer hands-on support to farmers and landowners, providing one-on-one guidance and group consultations to improve soil health, water quality, and conservation outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with agricultural pollution abatement rules through monitoring post-assistance activities and conducting periodic field inspections.
- Prepare and maintain technical reports and enforcement correspondence that guide conservation efforts.
- Support training and outreach by developing and delivering educational programs for agencies, organizations, and the public on pollution abatement rules and water quality issues.
- Represent the division at conservation field days, community events, and professional meetings that promote sound nutrient management conservation practices.
- Coordinate the agricultural pollution abatement cost-share program, including application reviews, project monitoring, fund tracking, and annual reporting.
- Respond to inquiries via email and phone, ensuring stakeholders have the support they need to achieve conservation success.
Requirements
- 4 years training or 4 years experience in natural resources specialty indicated under job duties within approved position description
- Undergraduate major core program & 2 years training or 2 years experience in natural resources specialty indicated under job duties within approved position
- Completion of graduate major core program & 1 year experience in natural resources specialty indicated under job duties within approved position
- Equivalent education, training and experience will be considered
