Apacheria Wildlife Technician (Part-Time) (Extended Temporary Employment)

Duties & Responsibilities

• Data Collection, Processing, and Management: Deploying and maintaining camera traps in southeastern Arizona. Using Timelapse software to review camera trap photos and classify species, behavior, and other relevant metadata. Ensuring quality control during data processing for camera trap metadata.
• Data Analysis And Report Writing: Summarizing the results of camera trap studies on and off the White Mountain Apache reservation. Synthesizing the results into reports to be submitted to White Mountain Apache Game and Fish and other stakeholders.
• Liaising With White Mountain Apache Game And Fish: Communicating with White Mountain Apache Game and Fish to ensure that we are meeting expectations regarding tribal sovereignty of data and actionable results to inform tribal management of resources.

Requirements

• High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
• Minimum of three years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• A valid driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of wildlife and its management on the Fort Apache Reservation.
• Knowledge of basic wildlife research skills (e.g., wildlife surveys, report writing).
• Ability to communicate and collaborate with White Mountain Apache Game and Fish.

$18.15 - $22.69 hourly rate
