Responsibilities

  • Develop rigorous lessons in your specific content area, in 1:1 blended learning environments, to prepare students for college and beyond while bridging gaps for marginalized communities
  • Set ambitious goals with students and monitor their progress through frequent, persistent feedback
  • Track student growth and use data and feedback from coaches to create student growth plans when needed
  • Build transformative relationships with students and families through regular communication (phone, video conference, email, or district-approved website)
  • Create a physical or virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development
  • Collaborate with a co-planner to adapt daily lesson plans and resources to fit students’ needs, meeting regular deadlines for lesson plans, grades, and work samples
  • Work on a team of teachers and leaders to provide consistency, support, and accountability to all students
  • Participate in content teams during Professional Development to norm on and improve student learning
  • Conduct weekly tutorials outside of regular class hours to provide additional instruction and support
  • Complete supervision duties on campus to support student safety, including morning duty, lunch duty, dismissal, detention, and afterschool duty
  • Grow professionally by giving and receiving consistent feedback from DOI, School Leader, and the Administration Team
  • Persist in the face of challenges, learn from mistakes, and model strong character for students
  • Be available by phone, email, or video conferencing to confer with campus leaders, collaborators, students, and/or parents
  • Provide personal care services as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB)
  • Texas Educator Certification, or willingness to join an Alternative Certification Program (ACP) to obtain certification
  • Strong ability to navigate web-related applications and technology
  • Ability to instruct students using a variety of technology applications and platforms
  • Belief in and commitment to the mission and core values of YES Prep Public Schools

  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
  • Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment

Pay

Starting salary: $64,000 annually.

Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) Eligible: TIA-designated teachers can earn up to an additional $32,000 per year based on performance on the Instructional Excellence Rubric and student growth, for up to 5 years if they remain in the classroom. Combined with the base salary scale, TIA-designated teachers could earn:

  • 1 year of experience: $91,800
  • 5 years of experience: $96,800
  • 10 years of experience: $99,800
  • 15 years of experience: $102,800
