About the Role

Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill requirements of the district's curriculum program, showing written evidence of preparation. Teach within the course of study for the subject area at the grade level as prescribed in state law or adopted by the school district.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Establish efficient classroom management procedures and maintain standards of pupil behavior.
  • Establish a system of student evaluation within state law guidelines or district-adopted policies.
  • Continually evaluate and record student progress, reporting to parents as needed and required.
  • Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and prepare written lesson plans for substitutes.
  • Provide varied learning experiences using different media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time.
  • Identify pupil needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning challenges.
  • Be available for student and parent counseling before and after school.
  • Interpret educational programs to the community through events like open house and PTA meetings.
  • Plan and coordinate the work of aides, paraprofessionals, and student teachers (when applicable).
  • Participate in developing the evaluation system for your role under district guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate student records and file required reports and documents for the school and district.
  • Perform all other assigned tasks and duties.
  • Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required.

Work Environment

The noise level is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. Remote work is not an option for campus-based employees, as on-site attendance and duties are essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for the subject and level assigned.
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks, duties, and procedures with specific instructions.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing world.
  • Commitment to staying current with professional developments.

Pay

Minimum Salary: $33,750 (non-certified) / $34,000 (certified).
