About the role

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lessons that accommodate different learning styles
  • Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject area at the appropriate grade level
  • Plan lessons leading to subject area objectives and maintain written lesson plans for substitutes
  • Utilize various media and methods to motivate students and maximize instructional time
  • Evaluate and record students' progress and communicate findings to parents as necessary
  • Assist students with health, attitude, and learning issues and participate in open house and PTA meetings
  • Coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofessionals and student teachers
  • Participate in the development of evaluation systems and maintain accurate records
  • Perform all other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of various routine tasks, duties, and procedures
  • Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing world
  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest developments in the profession
