About the role

This position reports to the Manager, Annuity Reinsurance Accounting & Administration and is responsible for performing various duties to ensure accurate and timely reporting with annuity reinsurers.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in many aspects of annuity reinsurance accounting and reporting, from the initial recording/coding of treaties to the monthly/quarterly processing and accounting/reporting
  • Prepare accounting/reporting entries and settlement reports for annuity treaties
  • Partner with various areas to implement new reinsurance treaties or amendments
  • Perform timely and accurate reconciliation of reinsurance accounts, making necessary adjustments as appropriate
  • Perform annuity reinsurance internal controls
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the underlying reinsurance processes and the types of treaties and arrangements in place
  • Assist with internal, external, and reinsurer audits
  • Maintain key stroke-level standard operating procedures
  • Continuously evaluate processes and controls to create operational efficiency
  • Assist with ad hoc requests, special projects, and other related duties as assigned

This role does not have formal people leadership responsibilities but may provide guidance, mentorship, or subject matter expertise to others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1+ year of relevant experience in reinsurance accounting or financial reporting
  • Reinsurance accounting with annuities or financial services industries preferred
  • CPA license or in pursuit of such license preferred

Other Requirements

  • This position primarily involves sedentary work, requiring long periods of sitting, regular use of a computer, and occasional standing or walking, with reasonable accommodations available
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
