Animal Therapy

Description

Elara Caring, a leading provider of home-based care, seeks compassionate volunteers to provide exceptional end-of-life care to local hospice patients and their families. Specifically, Elara Caring Hospice is looking for Pet Therapy volunteers (handlers with dogs only).

• A visit from a therapy dog can significantly benefit terminally ill patients, offering them extra attention and unconditional love.
• To volunteer and visit patients, you must have your own certified Therapy dog through one of the following organizations: Therapy Dogs International, West Michigan Therapy Dogs, or Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dogs.

Requirements

• You must have your own certified Therapy dog.
• The handler must provide the dog’s health record (current DHLPP, Bordetella, Rabies, and fecal tests).
• The handler must also present a therapy certification.
• A certified liability insurance policy is required.

Hours

We typically ask for 1-2 hours per week on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
