Animal Control Assistant – Part-time position

About the role

The City of Dunn is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Animal Control Assistant. The primary responsibilities include supporting the Animal Control Officer and Animal Control Director by maintaining the animal shelter and caring for the animals housed there. Duties include cleaning and disinfecting cages, kennels, and feeding animals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the animal shelter by cleaning and disinfecting cages, kennels, and feeding animals.
• Handle non-aggressive animals, clean animal waste, perform general cleaning tasks (dishes, laundry, sweeping, mopping, taking out trash).
• Perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, pulling/pushing, squatting, etc.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid NC Class C Driver License.
• Ability to deal tactfully with the public.
• Must be able to do heavy lifting.
