Animal Care Worker Examination

Responsibilities

• daily kennel and shelter cleaning
• ensuring shelter animals are properly cared for
• assisting with adopter meets
• scanning dogs for microchips
• implanting microchips in dogs without them
• taking photographs of newly impounded animals
• assessing dog's temperament
• feeding, grooming, exercising, walking, and engaging in enrichment activities for all shelter animals
• interacting with DACC clients to introduce adoptable animals and other meets, as needed
• promoting adoptions through visitor education
• documenting animal identification
• updating animal walking boards, divisional spreadsheet, and record management systems
• assisting with animal euthanasia as needed
• driving Divisional vehicles
• performing other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License required
• Must become euthanasia certified within six months of the date of hire
• Must be able to lift and handle animals of all sizes
• Animal welfare experience is preferred

Pay

SALARY: $19.94 - $23.31 per hour.
