About the role
The Animal Care Technician position is an opportunity for motivated, driven individuals to showcase their ability to multitask and work as a team. The ideal candidate will add value through performing daily chores, collecting research data, assisting veterinarians, promoting animal well-being, and managing equipment.
Responsibilities
- Clean and perform daily chores repeatedly under the direction of senior staff and veterinarians.
- Collect research data and samples in accordance with study protocols and Good Documentation Practices.
- Absorb and report on abnormalities observed during veterinary procedures.
- Promote and maintain the well-being of animals including feeding and basic care.
- Repair, maintain and operate equipment/machinery.
- Perform administrative duties that support the care of animals and site functions.
- Record information both timely and accurately.
- Build relationships with key individuals and contributors in the organization and beyond.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience working with animals; large and small.
- Proven experience working with large farm equipment/machinery.
- Ability to work well with others and maintain composure.
- Ability to work collaboratively as well as communicate effectively both written and orally.
- Attention to detail and analytically driven.
- Dependability, flexibility and ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Willingness to be on call and in on-call rotation, including weekends.
- Live within a satisfactory distance to assist in on call purposes and procedures.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
