Animal Care Technician (Two Open Positions)

Summary of Job Duties

The Animal Care Technician provides daily husbandry, sanitation, welfare monitoring, documentation, and facility support within institutional research vivaria. This position supports animal care operations in accordance with standard operating procedures, veterinary direction, IACUC expectations, biosafety practices, and institutional policies. Duties include daily animal observations, cage changing, feeding and watering, room sanitation, cage wash support, environmental monitoring, supply preparation, accurate recordkeeping, and prompt communication of animal welfare, facility, or equipment concerns.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
  
• At least one year of specialized training in business management, business education, or a related field
  
• At least three years of experience in a specialized or related field applicable to work performed
  

• Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in science or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  
• AALAS certification (ALAT, LAT, or LATG) or equivalent
  
• Three or more years of experience in vivarium operations and laboratory animal research
  
• Experience with rodent handling and restraint
  
• Experience working in ABSL-2 environment
