Animal Care Technician I

About the role

We are looking for an Animal Care Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team, located in Bethesda, MD. The responsibilities of the Animal Care Technician I include performing daily animal health observations, animal husbandry duties, and maintaining the quality and health of research animals.

• Perform daily water bottle and cage checks, cage changing and/or cage cleaning as required
• Provide food and water
• Record health concerns
• Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, housing, or support areas
• Receive, inspect, and house incoming animals
• Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of various animal species
• May become involved in breeding and weaning procedures
• Monitor personnel and equipment entry into various rooms
• Operate required equipment and perform general housekeeping

Requirements

A candidate that possesses a high school diploma or general education degree is preferred; experience performing basic animal care desired. Interest in achieving ALAT certification upon eligibility.

Pay

$22.50 USD per hour.
