Animal Care General Maintenance Technician

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform basic tasks including painting and filling crevices, clean facilities and manage maintenance repairs.
• Perform repairs on company machinery, equipment or appliances.
• Detect and report the need for major maintenance repairs.
• Regularly check facilities and properties to identify issues, mechanical failure or breakdowns.
• Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Repair plumbing, electrical and other systems.
• Maintain the appearance of outside spaces, including lighting, parking lots and sidewalks.
• Test and repair of basic electrical circuits such as switches and outlets.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and buildings.
• Perform repairs and maintenance of plumbing fixtures and valves.
• Operation of man lifts both platform and boom style.
• Perform work from ladders and lifts at varying heights.
• Light carpentry skills
• Performing basic repairs to sheetrock and wall coverings, painting.
• Installation and repair of basic floor coverings and coatings.
• Daily communications with Supervisor to discuss project and repair status and set priorities.
• Must be available for evening, weekend and holiday work as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Two years maintenance experience within an industrial facility preferred.
• Graduation from high school or accredited equivalency program.
• Ability to demonstrate good oral and written communications.
• Ability to anticipate and effectively deal with a large number of details with concurrent and overlapping deadlines for completion.

Essential Job Qualifications

• Must retain a valid driver’s license and meet the eligibility requirements to drive while conducting company business.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to seventy five pounds and have sufficient dexterity to walk, kneel, crouch or crawl for long periods while performing work.
• Ability to climb ladders up to thirty feet.
• Tolerance to work in adverse conditions such heat, cold, dust and inclement weather.
