About the role
Under general supervision, performs simple tasks caring for impounded animals and assisting with the daily husbandry of animals. Serves as a first point of contact for incoming and outgoing animals.
Responsibilities
- Cares for impounded animals, including feeding, giving water, cleaning and disinfecting cages, and providing enrichment.
- Logs in impounded animals and monitors quarantined animals daily.
- Assists the public in identifying and redeeming pets.
- Assists in identifying sick, injured, or diseased animals and follows veterinarian instructions.
- Transfers animals between holding areas and records information according to instructions.
- Performs general custodial and maintenance duties, transports animals, and receives and impounds animals.
- Provides excellent customer service, including notifying owners and preparing notice of impoundment.
- Interacts with the public regarding protocols and operations questions and assists clients in adoption or reclaiming animals.
- Works with volunteers and assists community programs with adoptions and fosters.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or higher.
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the date of appointment.
Qualifications
Knowledge of normal behavior of animals and deviations from normal animal behavior, as well as positive customer relations and the ability to work under stressful conditions, are desirable.

Pay
Salary: $36,321.58 - $52,303.08 Annually
