Animal Care Attendant

About the role

VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital seeks to hire motivated and dedicated individuals to join their team as Animal Care Attendants. This position works in a fast-paced, AAHA-accredited facility offering 24-hour emergency, specialty referral, and general practice services in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside veterinarians and technicians to provide patient care
• Communicate effectively with clients and educate them about their pets' health
• Handle husbandry tasks as needed
• Organize daily duties and procedures to optimize staff efficiency
• Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the practice
• Assist in various aspects of veterinary care, including radiology, pharmacy, and medical record keeping

Requirements

• Dependable attendance
• Basic telephone and computer skills
• Strong client communication and education abilities
• Proficiency in managing medical records, including charges, medical histories, medications, laboratory reports, and prescriptions
• Knowledge of x-ray techniques and safety
• Familiarity with drug knowledge and pharmacy practices

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in animal care or related field preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
